In the Collectors Encyclopedia of Barbies dolls (page 410), it states that this doll was a gift to guests at the Barbie 40th Anniversary Gala held at the Waldorf Astoria in 1999.Designed as a very special keepsake, Barbie is dressed in aquamarine, the color of her birthstone. Her elegant gown has a separate bodice held by a rhinestone chain, and a pale aqua skirt with a sweep of darker aquamarine that forms a train. A light tulle stole and delicate drop earrings add an elegant finishing touch.
